Hariyono grew up in Malang, East of Java. After High School he studied and graduated in Canada as a Psychologist. He used to travel extensively in his own backyard, the Indonesian archipelagos, but also to other Asian countries and further until Europe. He worked not only in the middle of the rain forests in Sumatra and in Kalimantan but also in the middle of Asian metropolitans when he was still in Indonesia after his studies.
Hariyono - the Indonesian with a Plus
Hariyono grew up with a Chinese background. Having been brought up by two different cultures in Indonesia, he was well-prepared to face a new world when he moved to Europe in the year of 1999.
"In many ways Switzerland is much safer than the life in Bali: many things like social security are much more extensive and easier accessible. This is why we are buidling up the Garden of Friends "Taman Teman": A safe and secure place for our friends in Bali and also for ourselves. We do believe in their ability to master their life. And therefore Taman Teman is a common project: We offer our support when needed and we offer guidance when necessary. Taman Teman is our vision for the time when it is time to go home. It is our vision of a garden where friends are cared for by friends."
Today he works as an independent psychologist/consultant thus still giving him the freedom of exploring the world and creating both social- and business-oriented projects. After his father had passed away, his mother and his younger sister have moved to Bali. This gives Hariyono the chance of seeing our common friends in Ubud every time when he travels home to visit his family. At these occasion he consults Kadek Suwalo and Komang Suwali as a friend, always focusing on their present life-situation and our common project Garden of Friends, called "Taman Teman."
